Bandra boys elected as Committee Members to the MDFA

The Mumbai District Football Association is managed by the Executive Council consisting of a President, Chairman, 4 Vice Presidents, Hon. General Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, 4 Assistant Secretaries and 15 Committee Members. In addition to these, six members whose services would be beneficial to the Association, are also co-opted on the Executive Committee.

The MDFA concluded their elections for the Executive Council on 8th July 2017. A total number of 155 representatives from football clubs, institutions & gymkhanas across Mumbai had cast their votes. The highlight of the evening was Aditya Thackeray who won the highest number of votes.

Bandra boys Ryan Menezes, Henry Picardo & Shodhana Shetty were elected to the Executive Committee. Ryan Menezes, the youngest candidate and the first-ever lawyer to contest the elections secured 132 votes out of the 155 eligible club voters, thereby finishing 8th on the list of 37 candidates. Henry Picardo, representing local club Carmelites FC secured 131 votes and Shodhana Shetty representing Rhema Sports Club secured 120 votes.

Ryan Menezes:
An advocate of Bombay High Court & son of Geoffrey Menezes – Former Vice President of BWFA and MDFA (up to the last term), has been promoting football in Bandra West since the year 2006, under the brand name of Sellebrity FC, which is a club founded by his family. Sellebrity FC has been an extremely active team by participating in the BWFA Football league and has also organized U-20 Youth football leagues and open tournaments in Bandra. For the past 8 years, Mr. Menezes has been associated with the MDFA for various events. Last year, he was a Member of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the first International friendly match between India and Puerto Rico which was held at the Mumbai Football Arena, Mumbai.

Henry Picardo:
Mr Picardo residing at Mount Mary Step, Bandra (W), was appointed Asst. Secretary to the MDFA. He has been a player for the Carmelites SC and Air India. Not only has he played for Maharashtra but has captain the team in 1997 as well and additionally has had the privilege of playing for India in 1998. Mr Picardo is the Co-Founder of the Bandra West League (BWFA) as well as the former manager of Mumbai FC – I-League.

Shodhana Shetty:
Mr Shetty, who resides at Hill Road, Bandra, has been associated with MDFA since the last 10 years and is the Current Hon. Treasurer of MDFA (2nd term). He also manages the Rhema Football Club and currently plays in the Super Division and 1st Division of the Mumbai Football League. He has been associated with the club for almost 25+ years. On a spiritual note, he is also a Brother at the Bro Manuel ministries. If all this wasn’t a lot on his plate already, Mr Shetty also promotes a foundation, known as Rhema Foundation and runs a football/hockey turf ground at Vasai under the name of Rhema FC.
