Age is just a number when it comes to being generous and acknowledging others’ needs, to manifest the above, Shrey Singh who just turn 15 this year, is surely a young philanthropist in the making, following the illustrious footsteps of his mother, Seema Singh, a social entrepreneur and founder of ‘MeghaShrey‘ an NGO named after Shrey and his sister Dr Meghna, is working for underprivileged children since the last 15 years.

Last year during the lockdown when the country was facing a perplexing situation due to the pandemic, Shrey came forward with a noble initiative by donating all his birthday gifts money to buy things for underprivileged children rather than enjoying a lavish party and branded gifts. Clearly, the apple hasn’t fallen far away from the tree! Seema who is known for her “heart of gold”, is accompanied by this young man, whose thought process is unlike that most of his age, to every donation campaign, slum visits, food drives etc.

Since the situation hasn’t changed much in the past year, so Shrey this year too on his birthday donated essentials and food items to the needy and frontline workers, he celebrated his special day with underprivileged kids at Mount Mary following all safety protocols. His happiness reaches a new high when he gets unconditional love back in return from the kids who shared his special occasion just like their own.

Seema shares, “I have paired up with a kitchen service to provide food to the unfortunates daily. Dr Meghna, my daughter provides free counselling to elderly people who are panic-stricken in these crucial times. MeghaShrey undertakes the responsibility of food, education and healthcare of many deprived kids until they acquire technical degree considering their talented minds.”

This charity partnership of mother-son duo undertakes a blanket donation drive every winter. This duo is so inspiring and setting an example by paying back to society and empowering lives. Shrey’s story is an inspiration for other teenagers who can come forward and contribute to society in any possible way and make this world a better place.
