500 students take to the streets of Bandra to create awareness about cleanliness

A vision seen by the honourable Assistant Municipal Commissioner of H-West ward, Mr Vinayak Vispute, of having a ‘Clean Mumbai Green Mumbai’ ignited the student’s love towards it and a desire to create awareness about cleanliness among the citizens.

The environment team of St. Anne’s High School ( Std 9 B students) meet every Thursday and selflessly work in segregating and composting under the guidance of the School Manager, Rev Fr. Mario Mendes, and the encouragement of the Headmistress, Mrs Marilyn Fernandes.

Sr. Shiny Alphonse, the Principal of Auxilium Convent High School has been very vibrant and instrumental in instilling a love for the creation in her students.

As part of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s month-long ‘Majhi Mumbai Swachh Mumbai’ drive that kicked off on 1st December, more than 500 students of St. Anne’s High School and Auxilium Convent High School participated in a rally (Prabhat Pheri) on Friday, 9th December 2022.

The procession began from Rajendra Chowk, Nargis Dutt Road via Zig Zag road, Dr Ambedkar Road, Pali market, Gold Gym and back. There were street plays based on ‘Waste Segregation’ and ‘Say No to Plastic’ along with a float. The students held placards and shouted slogans creating awareness about cleanliness as well as the teachers participated with zeal and enthusiasm.

The environment gives us abundance and it’s our responsibility to do our bit and save the environment.

ALM representatives Mrs Lilian Paes and Mrs Idaline Fernandes were present to encourage and motivate the students.
